Episode 11 : “I think I’m Sick” — Contagion

This week, we’re talking about the movie that’s popping up absolutely everywhere, CONTAGION (2011, dir. Steven Soderbergh). We were going to start our Blumhouse arc, and it will start soon, but we switched to a VIRAL arc. It’s how we cope! We talk about how Contagion represents a shift in horror with big Hollywood pros taking a crack at the genre. Let’s be honest. who isn’t coping by watching January’s most torrented film?

Episode 10: “Be kind and rewind, my dudes” — VHS

It’s the final episode of our Found Footage arc! We’ve spanned decades of horror to arrive at the grimy weirdness of VHS (2012, from Brad Miska and Bloody Disgusting). This movie grew out of the website Bloody Disgusting, and has that same frat-bro horror energy you know we love. For this episode, we’re drinking Angry Orchard cider, but we highly recommend getting your hands on a 2007-era Four Loko if you can.

Episode 9: “Don’t breathe on me, bro” — REC

As it may become obvious when you start listening, this episode was recorded before COVID-19 was declared a pandemic. We hope you’re doing the best you can to stay safe and healthy, and we wanted to give you a little fun distraction in the from our horror movie banter anyway.

This week, we’re during REC (dir. Jaume Balagueró, Paco Plaza, 2007), one of the best Spanish-language horror movies of all time. This officially wraps up our Found Footage arc, though we all know the genre will never die.

Episode 8: “Her Boyfriend Sucks” — Paranormal Activity

This week we’re discussing the movie that is basically the most found footage-y of all the found footage movies. We’re drinking a $9.99 bottle of Yellow Tail Merlot in honor of the movie as well. This movie was kind of a weird time for horror in pop culture, and we talk through how Blumhouse brought back the horror franchise. Also, we point out which decision in this movie is truly the stupidest. We have two more episodes in our Found Footage arc, so stay tuned!

Shanyce and Will are back with an all-new arc: FOUND FOOTAGE! Things get creepy as they find themselves back in the woods with THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT (1999, dir. Eduardo Sánchez, Daniel Myrick.) This movie has become a legend, but does it really deserve that title? We’re going to need a whole lot of beer to get through this horror movie!

Episode 5: “Not Another Teen Movie” — Sleepaway Camp

To conclude our Cabins arc, we go through the cult status movie SLEEPAWAY CAMP (1983, dir. Robert Hiltzik). Over the years, this movie has become a lot more controversial to horror fans. Will and Shanyce drink an entire six-pack of Budweiser to get through it, in tribute to 80s frat bro style.
